Unfortunately it was been such an underwhelming experience. Booked with Meriton expecting a 2 bedroom luxury apartment however it has been quite poor.
Checked into first room as we were level 23 you would think you have entered a smoking level. I guess not their fault but guests clearly smoking.
Spoke to reception downstairs and to be fair we’re quite helpful. Moved into our second room it would seem like the showers had never been cleaned. Black mould everywhere and bugs flying around the shower. It didn’t even smell clean. The room felt dirty that’s for sure.
Moved into my third room with 2 young kids by this stage we are defeated almost considered leaving. The room seemed cleaner however still some mould in the bathroom but not as bad. One of the bed sheets was completely ripped but could not be bothered speaking to reception about it again.
Overall definitely not a luxury experience and definitely not worth the price. I’m sure there are much better options and I would definitely think twice about staying at a Meriton hotel.
I was offered $60 off to cover my late check in. I’m still considering leaving in the morning once the kids are rested.
This was a pleasant place to stay in Sydney! The location is excellent and walkable to most major attractions like the Opera house, restaurants and harbors. Rooms were clean and staff were friendly and quick to respond to requests. We stayed for two nights and had a nice view of Darling Harbour with a covered balcony. Would certainly stay here again!
Had high hopes that our 3 night stay would be hassle free. Check in was quick and our room was ready early. I wish they would have spent more time cleaning it before we arrived… there was a pair of used fake eye lashes stuck inside the en-suite bathroom cupboard and mold around the sink drain which was clogged with hair and slimy muck. The a/c return vent was coated in dust.
On day three, we asked for our used towels to be taken and new towels left in the room, and while they were there we asked that they remove the left-behind fake eye lashes. One of three requests was completed. When I asked at the desk if the other requests could be handled, the attendant seemed bothered, as if she was doing me a favor by putting in the work order.
Two bedroom suites are quite expensive at this property, and I expected a little more.
This experience was an absolute disgrace. I've never been more upset or disappointed with a service.
We requested months in advance for early check in and was told they would try to accommodate. I understand they can't always do that, but I emailed 4 times in the months/weeks/days leading up basically begging. Check in is at 3, and we arrived at 1:30 to be told the room wasn't ready. Understandable. Again at 2:30, room not ready. Extremely annoying but whatever- still understandable. At 3pm (check in time), was told the room would be another hour. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. We were staying at this hotel in the best room they offered for around $1400 A NIGHT, and our room wasn't ready at check in time. So I had 5 bridesmaids and a bride stranded with nowhere to get ready for her extremely important hens night. They offered us up to level 4 where the "pool and leisure center is", which is where my bride and our guests had to stand in the corner of the room and get dressed and do their hair.
In the meantime, I'm at the reception desk completely unready for our first appointment of the night (which starts at 4:30pm) and reception are giving out bottles of champagne to people..
The 2 managers I spoke to were apologetic but that doesn't help me in any way!! They tried to tell me the people before me left the room in a mess and "it's a large room"- none of that is my problem and again, does not help me in any way.
We got into our room at 3:45 (I have time stamped texts where I was updating my poor friends upstairs whilst I was in the lobby), yet they only refunded me 5%!!!!!!! ($69 of a $1400 room!!!) and our $60 parking fee. An absolute disgrace.
Booked 1 night due to the proximity to the Sydney Lyric Theatre and other than its convenient location, there wasn't much that we loved.
Service was lukewarm at best, our check-in was very blunt, a bit awkward and the policy of not accepting cash is illegal, as this was not disclosed anywhere during the booking process.
The pool was undergoing maintenance, which also wasn't disclosed prior to checking in.
The room was nice and spacious but the shower had no pressure, there was a cleaning bottle left in our bathroom and mould on the bottom of the shower.
The air-conditioning was also constantly loud, which meant for a very disrupted night's sleep.
Check-out the next morning was similarly cold with regards to the staff. $350 for one night - definitely not worth it.
The worst Meriton we have stayed at across Australia. Firstly, we were greeted poorly by the lobby staff, not a simple welcome or smile in sight, very disappointing. …
Pleasant place to stay. Rooms were clean and staff were friendly and quick to respond to requests. We stayed for two weeks and had a nice view of Darling Harbour with a covered balcony. Bed was a bit on the firm side, but nice, and the location was good for accessing everywhere in the CBD. Would certainly stay here again.
We had a great stay last weekend for 2 nights. The staff were great.
Only negative was pool was a bit too cold for us, and spa was a little dirty around the sides. …
